BEST PRACTICES: Multiplex Technology Delivers a Novel Tool to Assist in Ruling Out Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
The diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex and potentially prolonged process, sometimes requiring years of monitoring, extensive testing, and consultation. There is no single serologic test or validated biomarker to help clinicians confirm or rule out an SLE diagnosis. Consequently, there is a pressing need for objective diagnostic tools capable of either definitively diagnosing or ruling out a diagnosis of SLE. The SLE-key® (ImmunArray, Richmond, Virginia) is a new, validated blood test capable of definitively ruling out a diagnosis of SLE in diverse patient populations in routine clinical practice. This Best Practices supplement provides important information about the SLE-key® test as well as Questions & Answers from key experts in systemic lupus erythematosus.
