This article will review historical as well as present approaches to resurfacing, discussing the nonablative tools that can complement resurfacing procedures. This review will discuss historical aspects and current ideas in laser resurfacing, including the pre- and postoperative management of resurfacing patients, combination treatments, and advances in the nonablative modalities used adjunctively to combat the components of aging.
