Off-label bupropion

“Bupropion: Off-label treatment for cocaine and methamphetamine addiction” (Pearls, Current Psychiatry, July 2010, p. 52) was a well-written, succinct article addressing a pharmacologic treatment in a difficult population. Bupropion has been utilized to target cravings associated with cocaine and methamphetamine addiction with mixed success.¹ Hopefully the cocaine vaccine mentioned in the article will be approved, which will provide clinicians with another agent for treating dual diagnosis patients.
